MOVIES! [Sep. 23rd, 2005|10:25 am]
So, the fall movie season is swinging into gear. Which of the following should I see this weekend:

1. A History of Violence
2. Oliver Twist
3. The Corpse Bride
4. Thumbsucker

I'm leaning towards 1 or 2, because I want to wait until things get more Halloweenie before I see Corpse Bride, and Thumbsucker feels like a Movies On Demand sort of affair.

Next week brings Capote, Mirromask, and Serenity, 10/14 brings Good Night and Good Luck, Domino and Elizabethtown, 10/21 brings Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Strangers With Candy.

That's a lot of moviein', so I needs get on it.

Hahaha. First post! I'm just gonna copy my MoCCA report:

Lessee, on Friday I learned that Canadians are often late but are probably better than you at Ms. Pacman. I learned that some people will eat one of Criff Dog’s improbably delicious deep-fried bacon-wrapped hot dog and yet be surprised when their tummy hurts afterwards. ALSO, I met Kean Soo, Andy Runton, Kazu Kibuishi, and Amy Kim Ganter all in the flesh (plus some others that I’m forgetting, mostly in a disorienting visit to the cramped back room of Veniero’s – “where pastries are made and then consumed”), and everybody was in the advertised condition! A+++ would meet again.

On Saturday, Ryan, Ro, Kean and yours truly made our way down to MoCCA and look out cuz there’s Dumbrella and uh-oh there’s the king of the Internet, Jeph Jacques, and his girlfriend Cristi and oh boy I guess the Internet must be pretty empty today! Also, there was no air conditioning because I guess the people at the Puck Building think that comics nerds don’t smell bad enough naturally. But, as a cosmic compromise, I got to meet totally awesome people that included (but are not limited) to the immensely talented and funny David and Dale and the exactly like they are on the Internet only better Beth and Juperz and others but I can’t remember them right now. I also learned that Andy Runton is more sarcastic in person than Owly would like you to think and Kean is generous with his dried apricots but has a strict code of ethics involving their distribution. OH YEAH and this one dude was all I want one of your t-shirts and I went to get him one and he was all not this one the one you’re wearing and I was all dude I’m not selling this cuz I got it off the Internet and he was all LAME. Sorry, that dude!

Then we went back to my place, I put on something a little more comfortable and put on some of my Andy Williams albums. Hahaha not really! The true story is we (Ryan, Ro, Kean, Beth, Amy (Jupe), Jeph, and Cristi) had Thai food at this place near my apartment, let Ryan tell embarrassing stories about himself, talked shop, made jokes, etc. As we were all too tired to go out proper, we bought too many MGD’s (read: more than one) and some girly drinks for the a few of the ladies, and got schnookered.

So then OOPS it’s Sunday and Steve is hung-over and tired, but he soldiers on because he’s a MAN. Lessee, I went with David to the Pearl Paint in Chinatown and bought a fancy new brush pen that they make in JAPAN. ALSO, I met Stranger Dan, which was so cool that I wished more TABBers had come! Then, Ryan, Ro, Kean, Kazu, and cool customer Ryan Sias went to my place for a bit and they all went out to dinner with super famous cartoon superstars but I went to bed because, brother, I WAS TIRED and I HAD WORK IN THE MORING.

Last night, we bought CD’s and had burgers at Burger Joint and Kean once again proved that he is better than you at Ms. Pac-Man. We finished the evening listening to rock and roll music and doing some sweet jam comics that I will post this afternoon.

So that's it, there are other, more photo-laden, reports hitting the net, and there are more coming. Sorry to any cool cats I forgot to mention - I met a lot of people over 2 days and my brain is still processing it all. All in all, MoCCA ’05 was awesome and you totally should have been there.
